What exactly are flower essences?
Flower essences are plant-based remedies that are used to help restore emotional balance. They have been used in various formats for centuries by different cultures, but have been popularized since the 1930s by Dr. Edward Bach, who developed the Bach Remedies®# (most notably, Rescue Remedy®#) using English flowers. Balance uses Australian wildflowers, which many naturopaths believe have stronger and more potent properties.
-
Why can’t I taste the flower essences in the water?
Flower essences do not flavor Balance. When you buy dosage bottles of flower essences (such as Bach Rescue Remedy®# or Australian Bush Flower Essences™), you taste the alcohol or acidic preservatives. Our flower essences do not contain alcohol – instead, we use more sophisticated, gentle methods to ensure sterility.
-
Are there any calories in Balance?
No. There are zero calories in Balance. There are no sugars, preservatives or artificial additives of any kind.
-
If I am allergic to wildflowers, will I be allergic to the flower essences in Balance?
It is highly unlikely (almost impossible) that you would have any allergic reaction to any of the Balance products. Flower essences capture the vibration energies of the flower. There is almost no trace of any actual plant material left in a flower essence. The flower essence is added in small homeopathic dosages to our water. If you have any concerns then you can test any sensitivity by using a dose bottle of Rescue Remedy®# or seek advice from a naturopath or physician.

Where are the flowers in Balance from?
The flowers used in Balance come from all over Australia including some of the most remote parts of the outback. The flowers are taken from healthy plants that grow in the wild on private land a long way from any roads or towns. The plants must have a good position and be healthy and have 'character'. The plants are not farmed in any way. They are not planted by us or watered or fertilized. The flowers are selected by taking a combination of new, mature and old blooms. They are collected using twigs from the plant so as not to contaminate with human touch. They are then gently ‘processed’ using proprietary methods that do not involve alcohols, preservatives or heavy industrial equipment. This removes any flavor or plant residue and is done under sterile conditions without compromising the natural integrity of the product. This processing results in our concentrate or 'mother tincture'.

Where does the water in Balance come from?
Though our flower essences come from Australia, the water in Balance comes only from local American springs. Our product is also bottled locally, eliminating the environmental pollution caused by shipping long distances. So for those in the eastern United States, our water is sourced from Alpine Springs in the Catskill Mountains (specifically Livingston Manor, NY). For those drinking Balance in the West, our water source is Baxter Natural Spring Water in Baxter, CA.
-
What percentage of flower essences are in Balance?
We accurately dose the flower essences within our spring water in quantities consistent with dosage and dilutions recommended throughout the industry by flower essence producers. Very small amounts of flower essences are needed to achieve maximum benefits.
-
Is there any alcohol mixed with the essences?
No. Balance is safe to give to children and those who abstain from alcohol, those who do not like the taste or do not wish to have the smell of alcohol on their breath.
-
Why isn't there a “Balance for Men”?
- Balance for the Mind is designed for both men and women primarily for focus and concentration. Balance for Women has all the same flower essences as Balance for the Mind with an additional two that are specific to women. We may well use some specific essences that benefit men in the future and produce Balance for Men.
-
How much should I drink each day?
You can drink Balance as your main, daily bottled water. Therefore, you should drink it until you don't feel thirsty. Many people recommend drinking 8 glasses of water a day for beneficial health effects pertaining to the skin, brain and other organs.
-
Can I drink too much?
Drinking too much water is difficult unless you have a specific medical condition or are under the influence of drugs. If you drink a great deal of water, confirm with your doctor that you are not diluting your sodium levels. The body typically self-regulates water and flower essences.
-
may I drink Balance if I am pregnant?
Yes. You can drink Balance safely throughout an entire pregnancy. Balance is the purest spring water. By the time it is bottled, Balance contains no pollens or floral material. The water is non-allergenic. Pregnant women have taken flower essences safely for decades, and today many naturopaths recommend them as a safe, natural alternative to pharmaceuticals for morning sickness, tension and stress. If you have any concerns or are having a difficult pregnancy, consult a doctor.
-
If I want to minimize jet lag, when should I drink Balance for Traveling - and how much should I drink??
For medium to long haul flights drink 2 large bottles of Balance for Traveling at least 2 hours before the flight. This teaches the body normality. So when you are in an abnormal condition (pressurized, dry cabin) and then try to return to normality (arrival), the body can readjust faster. For shorter flights (typically less than 2 hours), 1 large bottle is sufficient.

Is your company socially responsible and philanthropic
Last year Balance made donations to nearly 50 different charities.
The two main charities to date are the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organization (www.naccho.org.au), and the National Breast Cancer Centre of Australia (www.nbcc.org.au). Balance is the official water of the NBCC. Both of these organizations receive money from the sale of Balance products.
Balance is looking to fund appropriate charities in every country where Balance products

Are your products Carbon Neutral?
In the U.S., our bottles, labels, caps, labor and pristine spring water are all locally sourced. The only ingredients imported are the flower essences from Australia, and these are in small, highly concentrated amounts. We also ship our product the shortest possible distances–we have regional distribution centers and operations on both coasts to avoid long distance trucking. As we move into international markets, we will continue to source only local spring water and use high-quality, local components.
